The Eastern Produce Council is dedicated to making this world a better place and is committed to improving the social welfare of our local and extended communities.
The foremost philanthropic partnership we have is with "The Produce for Better Health Foundation" which promotes the nationwide “5 A Day for Better Health Program”. This nationwide initiative’s goal is to increase Americans’ consumption of fruits and vegetables to 5-9 servings per day and to promote good health and reduce the risk for heart disease, stroke, hypertension, some cancers, and other chronic diseases. The program includes a partnership of federal, state, and local government agencies; industry; and voluntary organizations. 5 A Day is one of the most widely recognized health promotion programs in the world.
We are proud to also contribute to a number of other worthy organizations including:
Lead New York - The Empire State Food and Agriculutral Leadership Institute
New Jersey Agriculture Leadership Development Program
Rutgers University’s Cook College Food Science Program
Cooley's Anemia Foundation
Deborah Hospital Foundation
Henry H. Kessler Foundation
The John McAleavey Jr. Fund
In addition, we host a variety of events each year including our Annual Golf Outing to benefit a charitable organization and our very popular Annual Dinner Dance which is supported by our full color journal featuring over 250 advertisers.
The Eastern Produce Council is fortunate to have many capable volunteers who head up and direct committees for all of these efforts. If you are interested in working with the EPC as a volunteer or would like to make a donation, please contact the Executive Director of the Council, John McAleavey, at
